Recent and upcoming road maintenance efforts include:

  • Ditch work and road smoothing starting today on Twin Peaks Rd and Mt. Hope Rd to improve drainage and drivability.
  • ASLS will be conducting inspections across the district starting today and tomorrow to identify areas where water collects. These inspections will guide further improvements such as ditch enhancements or surface grading to mitigate water-related issues.
  • Starting the week of October 21, grading will resume on high-traffic areas and larger hills to ensure safer and smoother travel.

Thank you for your continued support and engagement. Please feel free to reach out with any questions ahead of the meeting.

Roadwork Update – Starting This Week/Next Week

We wanted to share an update happening in the community this week:

🚧 Roadwork Update – Starting This Week

Beginning this week, our contractor will be grading Twin Lakes, Parry Peak, Mt. Massive, Cedar (between Silver & Gold), Peakview (west to Gold), and Quarts along “Cardiac” hill.

Please note that the schedule may extend into the following week depending on traffic flow and timing. Thank you for your patience as we work to enhance these roads.

🚧 Roadwork Update – Starting Next Week

Beginning next week, road base will be delivered for Mt. Hope to help improve the grade of the hill. Our contractor will also be grading Mt. Hope, Cedar, Lodgepole, Spruce, and La Plata.

Please note that the schedule may extend into the following week depending on traffic flow and timing. Thank you for your patience as we work to enhance these roads.

🐾 Dog Sighting in Box Creek BLM

Two large, dark-colored dogs have been seen running around the Box Creek BLM area. One brindle-colored dog (blurry photo attached below) followed residents south on Gold before heading east on Spruce. Neither dog appears to be wearing a collar. If you recognize them or have any information, please let us know.

🚱 MEWA Water Line Work on Hemlock

Excavation work and a 400-foot water line extension/loop closure are expected to begin this week on Hemlock between Gold and Silver. “Road Closed Ahead” signage will be placed on both ends of the work zone.

This section of Hemlock will be closed to thru traffic, so please plan your detour accordingly.

July 2, 2025 Update

Sangre de Cristo Electric will be extending a line on Lodgepole this Thursday. Please be aware that there may be a temporary closure while the work is performed. Sangre de Cristo is not expecting the work to take very long.

Grading services for Gold, Silver, and Fir were moved to this week as there was an unexpected delay. We have been informed that the grading will be completed this week. Additional work will be performed on Cardiac Hill as well due to the level of traffic.

Our office was informed that a younger individual discussing solar panels with residents seemed suspicious, and we were notified of the encounter. The individual is reportedly from Bayfield near Durango. What seemed concerning to the resident is that the younger individual did not have any materials related to the business with them. He was reportedly driving a 4-door white sedan similar to a Ford Taurus. There is no suspicion of any foul play, but it is something to take note of if you experience a similar situation.
